Crainial, if you owed on your 2007 taxes and did not pay in ful, then yes, it will be going to the IRS to pay down what you owe.

I heard on the news yesterday that the stimulus checks will start being auto deposited this coming Friday, May 2. This directly offsets what was stated in the letter most folks received about 3 weeks ago from the IRS stating if you were going to receive a stimulus check, you would receive another letter from the IRS before the check was auto deposited or mailed to you. They have moved the checks up for distribution. So it appears that those that filed this year and had refunds autodeposited would be the first to receive the checks. The news clip did not state if they were doing checks to mail at the same time.

So since we didn't file yet, should we use our stimulus before we file?

Well, I know we are not filing til after we receive it. We used our tax refund to hire an attorney and we couldn't use it for repairs we needed on cars and house. So now we will use the stimulus this way. I am keeping all our receipts and will take them to our 341. I hope this will be ok. We are under the median by quite a bit now and have our expenses figured to cover us in a C7.

We have paid the attorney and filing fee, but haven't filed yet. We are going to use our stimulus before we file.

I just saw a news story that said they started depositing them this morning at 8:30 and intend to deposit around 800,000/day through Wednesday. Thursday will be deposit-free and they'll deposit another 5 million on Friday. At least I know it'll be this week!

I heard on the news this a.m. that those that have direct deposit with the IRS will get their stimulus check deposited today - we received our refund over a month ago (auto deposited) and still no deposit today of anything from the IRS....

I have a question about the calculater to determine the amount we should get. I tried it using option 1040 and then 1040A I get a different amount with each. Whats the difference?? Why should it matter how I filed, the income and the kids are the same on both. I don't get it.

                            Can someone enlighten me...Please!!!!

Did everyone get a letter from the IRS about the rebate? We filed in Feb. and got a small refund. We were expecting to get a rebate this week, but didn't get the "letter" that others have mentioned.

                                Stimulus coming earlier than expected

Japan's ruling party is seeking a stimulus package that is substantially bigger than originally announced, involving 15 trillion yen ($150.4 billion) in new fiscal spending to wrest the world's second-largest economy from a debilitating recession. The measures, equivalent to 3 percent of the country's gross domestic product, were approved by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party's executive council, a party official said Thursday on condition of anonymity, citing department policy. The official declined to provide details of the package and said the proposal will get the government's go-ahead on Friday.
