Anyone ever go to the the Stephen Snyder Life After Bankruptcy seminar? If so, was it a waste of time, a scam, worthwhile, etc.?
Haven't gone to a seminar, but have been on his e-newsletter mailing list for almost two years. Have to say that the world he filed bankrutpcy in and recovered from is long gone. Personally I don't think that all of his advice necessarily works as neatly as he believes it does in today's credit world.
I put Stephen Snyder and Dave Ramsey in the same box - I take what they say with a grain of salt understanding that neither is 100% right all the time. If I see something I think can be appropriate for our situation, I research it thoroughly to make sure it's accurate and up to date before using it.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
08/10/11 - DISCHARGED ! 10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go
A partner of mine went with a friend and said that the entire presentation was Snyder on video, and nearly all of the information should have been "common knowledge" for anyone who'd done a lick of homework.
The program seems aimed at getting you to do business with one of his selected vendors.

That's pretty much how an informed consumer should live their life, IMO.
Chapter 13 Filed "Old Law"
Filed: 6/2003 Confirmed: 3/2004
Early pay off sent: 10/05/2007 - 9 months early 11/16/2007 - Discharged!
I would say this about Ramsey and Snyder, following Ramsey v Snyder will put you $$$ ahead v staying in debt. No one is right all the time, but Ramsey is trying to get you ahead in life. I disagree with Ramsey on some things. I believe that some debt paid if full each month is OK, but Synder wants to sell you a new car at this meetings. Guess who pays for the hotel. Who in BK needs what a new car requires like monthly payments.
