Hey poor grammy I think the exemptions are nationwide nationwide because all bankrupty is federal. You get a wildcard exemption and you get to keep certain goods like car, house, pet and bare necessities to allow a decent quality of life. Hope this will assist you in your quest to obtain knowledge about Ch. 7. Of course always consult your respective counsel for further confirmation regarding this issue!

This is NOT correct. Although the law is national, it states specifically in the law that each state sets its own bankruptcy exemptions. Some states have wild card exemptions, some don't. Some states allow filers to choose their state exemptions or the federal exemptions, but you can't mix the two.

Whether you get to keep your house, cars, and other assets depends solely on how much you can protect under your state's exemptions (or under the federal exemptions if your state allows that). Every case is different - there's nothing in the bk law that automatically allows you keep anything.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

It depends on your state. I live in CA and I got to exempt a lot of stuff because of the homestead and wild card.
