Where and when to pull credit report.

I am set to discharge during the first part of next month. From what I have read here, I should pull my credit reports & scores to start the clean up process.
    Two questions:

When should I pull them? Should I wait until about a month after discharge to allow the CRA's time to get the file updated? Or should I pull it a week later?

And where should I get them? I already got my free credit report last October when I was preparing to file. I'm going to have to pay for them, so I want to know who has the best price/program. I've heard of places like truecredit and was wondering if I should go with them.

    Thanks!

The above linked Federal Trace Commission website states that the only website they recommend pulling free credit reports from is http://www.annualcreditreport.com.

It also states that you can get a free copy once every 12 months, so if you pulled one in October, 2007, you won't be elligable for another free one until October, 2008.

I have used TrueCredit in the past, before the free annual credit reports were established. TrueCredit is owned by TransUnion, so there is a presumption of trust there as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't signed up for it yet, but TrueCredit offers a $14.95 per month cancelable at anytime program where you can pull both your credit reports AND scores anytime when you're in your subscription without additional charge -- even every day if you want. This doesn't sound like a bad deal to me, as long as you cancel when you're done.

As for timing, if you want to keep your credit fixing costs down, you might want to wait a month or two after the discharge to allow your creditors to change how they're reporting your entries. If you want to be hyperactive about monitoring it (like I will be), then you could sign up now. Signing up now would let you start correcting certain things early.

Do yourself a favor. Check everything I say with a bankruptcy attorney. Most attorneys will even provide a free initial consultation. In fact, it's your life, so check everything anyone says (including your attorney) for yourself!

I used True Credit all the way thru my bankruptcy....... I kept a check on it weekly, or just whenever I wanted to check for any changes. Also they notify you of any inquiries, or changes in your credit report.

Yes, it was $14.95 a month but to me it was worth it having access to it continously until I got everything cleared up, bankruptcy over, and my refinance done.

Also I was able to pull a credit report from each credit bureau as part of the membership. They did all kinds of comparisons, told you where to improve your credit and how to improve it. Plus they give you your scores for each credit union.

You can cancel at any time.....

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
