    Pacer ?

What does the flag DEFmaillist mean? I have filed my matrix and it was filed on time? Anyone know?

Bobbi, it would be worth a call to the clerk on that one. As far as I can tell, you're right that the flag means there is a problem with the matrix, but if you filed it and it shows up in the PACER pdf of your filing, then call the clerk.

I do know that the clerks in my area match the addresses on the matrix to the addresses in the schedules, so maybe that's the problem, or it could have just been typed in a format they don't like, which is enough to get it kicked out. You should also be receiving a Notice of Deficiency telling you that you have to refile the matrix.

Did you look at sample matrices in your district before filing? If you get a chance, look up some other cases local to you in PACER and see how they formatted their matrices; doing that helped me a great deal, that and asking the clerks every conceivable question prior to filing. But if you have to refile the matrix anyway, still time to ask them what the problem is so you don't repeat it. Good luck!!!
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Bobbi, if that's the only deficiency they found, you're golden.

Most of the deficiency notices I read basically said you have to refile your entire petition (*gasp*) and it was always, *always* because a bankruptcy petition preparer had not used the right forms, or even forms with the same wording... so format is a big deal. But if your labels are showing up correctly, it may be that they are not able to match it to the creditors in your schedules.

Anyway, relax. Nothing you can do about it right now. Call the clerk's office Monday and see if you can get further info. Have a good weekend.

P.S. See this thread for what I mean about the clerks matching the matrix to the schedules:
