Not everyone has income that stays the same month to month. Take what you made for the last 6 months and divide by 6. Then multiply by 12. That should give you a good number for the median comparison.

Our problem is opposite to yours. Our yearly income(that which is on the income tax) is way below means, but if you look at our monthly(gross) it is more. So I am trying to figure it out as well.

Does the trustee take your pay stubs for 6 months and add them up to make sure they don't go over the 6 month max.

remember...monthly is not just one week times 4....there are 13 week per quarter....26 weeks in 6 months and 52 weeks in a year.

So in order to get a true monthly you must add together at least a quarter (13 weeks )and divide by 3.

The safest way is to use the same 6 month period (26 weeks) that will be used in your BK then divide by 6.

Well, I just went be the verbage on the means test. I was going to wait to file BK, but if I do it at the end of feb i can use the pay from the last 4 months of last year. My wife got a raise at the end of the year that puts us right at the months means limit. if you go by this years income though we will be over at the end of the year by 1000. for the means test.
