Fair deal moving into a rental with BK & Forclosure?

We've applied for a rental home with all the amenities we need. We are in California and the monthly rent asking is $1900 (4bd/2ba w/pool, jacuzzi, wood pellet stove, wash & dryer, dog ok). The original security asking was $1000 but given our circumstances, they up'd it to $2200. In all, the move in would be $4100. Seem like a good price considering most landlords could ask for up to 3 months rent???
My husband thinks it's a deal and we like the area. It's early to move (just filed and missed Dec & Jan mortgage payments) but as I'm in agreement with nazstar, our current home is depressing...knowing we are going to lose it. This way we can take our time moving out!

Thanks...just that thought of "should we wait and save some money" goes through my head. Just have to take that leap.

I hear you, but... you both know it's right for you, and having a secure roof over your head, and not having to live with the doubt and tension of waiting to be evicted, is worth its weight in gold.

That's my thought, anyway. Thought I'd throw in my rah-rah encouragement in case you were taking votes.

          Thanks, Daisy!

This forum is comforting when you find out "your not alone" in this.

It sound like a pretty normal deal, however, at this point it seems that you would want to be saving as much money as possible. But you have to make the right decision for you. Personally I would live free as long as possible, then try to find a place without the amenities and save a little more every month.

I'm not sure what got you into your BK, but unless you make some changed you will be back in the same situation very soon. Please don't take my opinion as harsh. I say it with the most respect.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Congrats on making the move. It's hard to walk away from the house and admit you are losing it. But, in my case, I needed peace of mind. I understand your decision completely!

                Point taken.

You know...I think the gentleman renting the house is shorting himself (but I'm not complaining). Most of the homes around my area (South Bay, CA) are going for around $1800-$2200. That's in a good neighborhood (right around where we are now) and are of decent size. We are going from a 2500sq ft home to a 2000 and I'm happy about that. Several will not allow a dog and most want 1st, last & dep. with another month's rent because of the BK. That could total as much as $6k to move in. I think the $4100 is perfect and we still can save around $2k a month to put towards buying another home in 3-5 yrs.
Truthfully, we were not looking for all those amenities (especially the pool) but was very happy to get what we did.

                Thanks for the input!

I wish you the best. These are all very hard decisions. At the end of the day we have to do what's best for us.

If its a great deal then go for it. If you don't take it, let me know...i might want it....lol.

You got lucky. There is now way I could find a 4 bedroom at that price here. You would be lucky to find a 1 bedroom for that.
