    Debtor Education question

I have a question about the timing of the prefiling class. I know you must file within 6 months of taking the class or you have to retake it. I took mine in October and I haven't filed, but I was planning on doing so within the next few weeks (after spending my tax refund on insurance, property taxes, and RX drugs). I also had some more medical tests last week. They are the last for quite a while. After insurance, I will probably owe around $600 for those test. When I file will they look at the date of my course and say it's not dischargable? Do I need to take another course so I have a later date? I know this sounds stupid, but I don't have $600 to pay them.

Any insight or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!

Well taking the class again is cheaper than paying $600. But I'd wait to take it a second time until after all the medical expenses are in.

I'm confused......you said you have to file within 6 months of taking the course, so if you took the course in October - 6 mos should take you through to April..........??? If you're going to file soon, I don't understand the issue....

I was concerned about the date on my certificate. Does anybody look at those and the dates?

Sorry, I just re-read your post and now get what you were trying to say. Duh........

If I now understand you correctly, I think you are concerened about the $600 debt being dischargeable or not, as it was incurred after you took the course. I would assume it would be, as you won't technically be filing until after you incurred that debt, but I'm sure others can chime in.

Not like you went out and blew $600 on a credit card or luxury item or anything just prior to filing.........

Okay, I am guessing as krielly did that your questions concerns weather a creditor will object based on the fact that you knew you were going to file when you incured the debt.
I gotta say, you creditor is not going to waste their time over 600. Plus, as it is medical bills, they probably don't have much of a case.

Now had you went and spent 3k on a vacation at this point in the process I think you would hear something from the creditor. However, due to the nature of the debt and the amount you won't have any issues.

Thanks. I know I'm just stressing over every little thing. But some things I realize I do need to stress over, but other things I should just let go. I just want my tax refund so I can pay my attorney and get this ball rolling!
