One tradition that we started last year was ornament exchange. We draw names right before thanksgiving and have a $15 limit on ornament/ornament set.
The kids squealed when putting last year's ornaments on the tree this year (and they are 17/22/28) and quite honestly, the ornament opening was the most anticipated event this year! Everyone took the time to find "just the right" ornament.
Christmas for us is fast becoming about memories and families rather than malls and crowds.
