Question about Tax Refund

True. If you wait and receive the refund after filing, they may likely take it anyway, so you're much better off using it for your attorney and whatever else you need before you file. Then your assets don't include $700 sitting in a bank account.Originally posted by isitreal View PostThe tax refund is the amount you over-paid. The government owes it to you. My understanding is you are free to do with that what you want to BEFORE you file.
If you spend it on necessities (attorney, groceries, repairs, living expenses, those sorts of things) it'll be fine.
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!
