Had trouble cashing a Citibank check

Has anyone had an prolem cashing a check written on the same bank. Here's the deal. Mu husband was paid this past Friday and the check is written from a Citibank in Dallas Tx. We went to a Citibank on Saturday to cash it an they refused saying they couldn't not verify the check. Then to make matters worse we went t the local Walmart and they too refused to cash the check. We resorted and went to a local Cash America Pawn shop who cashed it after taken $19.95 for their fee. We are currently do cash/money orders due to the real possiblity of a judgement. I do have a checking account which I only have $5.00 in and only cash my check in. Has anyone else run into these problems. It was very nerve racking since we were on an empty gas tank 15 miles from the kids and absolutely broke as as a joke.

You need to talk to your employer and find out what the hassle is with the checks. Nobody has to accept a check from anyone. But, you would think a payroll check wouldn't be an issue. I would let the payroll folks know that the checks are hard to cash and try to find out why.

Have a hunch that Citibank must have had a major problem with the sequence recording or some other problems with that pile of checks and put a blanket stop payment on all of them.
