Tyler,
I very rarely give advice as these good folks know, but I urge you to PLEASE consider BK as an absolute last resort! I know how hopeless you must feel in your situation, but you really do have your whole life ahead of you. I encourage you to take the $300.00 per month you have after you pay bills and attack that debt.
About higher education . . . If you REALLY want to do it, then seriously explore the possibility. Junior college, trade shools, or a university. It doesn't cost anything to call one of the counselors, but you have to ask.
I applaud you for recognizing your mistakes in money managment and encourage you to keep hanging in there. We ALL make mistakes. Don't beat yourself up and whatever you do don't give up.
I'm 43 and a mother to an 18 year-old son whom I love more than life itself so forgive me if this post seems overly maternal. I don't know you, but I do want the best for you.
Feel free to PM me anytime and God bless. You CAN get out of this.
All the best,
jane
