Thanks to any who have answered my questions. I'm confused when reading a lot of these posts. I don't know if it's our lawyer or trustee or what but to file we only had to bring in some pay stubs and back tax info. He just asked us about our bank accounts and didn't ask for the statements. I also wrote out our averages for utilities-he didn't need copies. I even wore my engagement and wedding rings to the meetings and it was never brought up about assets like that-only inheritances. Is it because we were a Ch13? Also we are only at 5% payback on ccs but we have a ton of arrears on our mortgage and we put our cars on it also. We had no problems at the 341 or the confirmation. To me, it wasn't time consuming at all. It just took maybe 1/2 hour to gather all our paperwork, but it seems like so many on here are spending days getting things together. Were we lucky or are we just a rare BK?

What chapter are you filing? I didn't spend much time getting mine together either. I filed a Ch 13. That may be the difference, possibly a ch 7 requires more. I also think it makes a difference what state and which district you are in. Some require more than others.I used to have a life, now I have grandkids.

I'm a CH13. We already filed, had our 341 and were confirmed. I was just curious about everyone else's issues. We're in IL near Chicago. I don't know, it just seemed pretty simple to me. I was just stressed before we went for our 341 because I kept reading everyone's postings about having this or not having that and the means test, etc. We had a lawyer who basically did everything on his computer; we didn't have to figure anything out. Like I said really simple.

I did have to organize and go through a lot of paper work so I could find all my creditors and what I ultimately owed them in order to give those numbers to my attorney. I was messy with my paperwork. I am now far more organized and so as a result, if I needed to, finding something would take a mere few minutes. I think it may just be a matter of organization, but I can't say for sure.Chapter 13 Filed "Old Law"
