    I need Help !!!!

    Hello Everyone..

I am new to the BKforum and I have a question. I am in a real mess, I have $80,000 of unsecured credit card debt most of which was lost due to online gambling. I am in GA and have self excluded from Casinos in the state of PA and all Harrah's properties. I have not used or paid on any credit cards since the summer of 2005 and had my cars Repossesed in October of 2006. Here is the problem I filled for chapter 7 in April of 1999 and was discharged Dec 8th 1999 and closed Jan 5th 2000. I know you can file again for 8 years but I am unsure of what date they use to determin the 8 year mark. Is it the File date, discharge date, or the close date. I cant Believe I am in this situation again and have to file BK. The first step was admitting I have a gambling Addiction and getting help, now I have to clean this mess up and move on with my life. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Scorpio

Yes, 8 years from filing date, so you are all set from that standpoint.

But the attorney and the trustee will both likely ask "How do we know this is going to be your last bk"?

If you are a G. Anonymous member now, that will help.

We are not here to judge, but want to be sure that everyone who is filing bk now will never ever need to do it again. This gives you a "fresh start", but it really needs to be the long term solution and not just for 8 more years.

      Good luck!

      US Trustee reviewed case/resolved 9/14/07
      Discharged: 10/11/07 Closed: 11/2/08

Thanks for your help. This is the last time, I never want to go through this again. It's hard not to judge someone in my situation.

        Thanks

          Thanks
You are definately not the only gambler on this site. And really most of us are here due to our own poor choices, poor planning, and poor decisions.

My debts were never caused by gambling, but I do love to play the horses. Money has been so tight for years that I have to limit my horseplaying to a few bucks on Derby and Breeders Cup Day. I've read tons of posts on gambling and bankruptcy and know a few people personally who had to file on gambling debts. I think its probably very common to be bankrupt due to gambling nowadays especially with internet gaming sites and all of the new Indian casinos popping up. We have a few in our area and they are packed all of the time. I don't like slots because they give me a terrible headache (and I'm so unlucky, I may as well feed my money into a paper shredder), but we take family members there for birthdays and holidays.
