Go on the web and search under:

    Virginia bankruptcy trustees

It should bring up a listing of attorneys and trustees in the state of VA....
    Minny

"It's amazing the paths that our feet sometimes follow in life".

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

This is exactly what I did and it helps sooooooooo much.

First, your attorney will probably personally know the trustee assigned to your case

Second, since they are a trustee themselves, they know exactly what to look for and what the trustee will look for.

Makes everything run as smooth as it can.

Here's the list of Ch 7 trustees by state - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/private_.../locator/7.htm

Just scroll down to VA - all the Ch 7 trustees for the Eastern and Western Districts are listed there.

And in case you are looking for a Ch 13 lawyer/trustee, here's the list of Ch 13 trustees by state - http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/private_...locator/13.htm

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

          06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
          06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
          07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
          09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
          08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

          10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

excellent post lrprn.....both my attorney and trustee are listed. It is a huge help - not sure if I'd be 45 days from discharge right now if I used someone not on this list....

Sorry to dig up an old post, but... Is using a Trustee considered a good tactic to use? What are all of your thoughts on this? I'm in Richmond, VA, and am considering using one of the attorneys on the list that was linked above.

One more bump for this. Have any of you done this? How did it work out? I'm worried about tipping my hand to the "other side" should I choose to NOT go w/ them. Thoughts?

It is hit or miss; I personally don't see any real advantage to using a trustee. It really comes down to the service you want to receive. There are many very experienced and talented BK attorneys that are not trustees (many are more talented than the trustees).

Trustees don't really have that much more insight into the system than a BK attorney with 5 years of BK experience handling cases of varying complexity.
