Lawyer has different ways of doing things I guess?

Our petition is almost done. I was never asked about what we had in the house other than the lawyer asking Do you have any:
    Plasma or LCD tvs?
    More than one Tv?
    DVD players?
Collections of Value like stamps, hummels, or guns?
    Boats, RVs' Timeshares, 2nd homes?
year and make of car..how much owed.
What type of furniture do you have? (I answered, he seemed uninterested..lol!!) Nobody wants venered Ikea stuff?
I-pods, game systems or blackberry. Did you file taxes yet? get the return/ spend it...whats in your bank account.

Thats it. Maybe thats all the trustee in our area cares abut? I hope so because that was TO easy. We own nothing above except one TV, a DVD/VCR combo and a gamecube.

Thats about all he asked. Nothing much else except a copy of our CC & hospital bills. This sound alright to you? We are about $40,000 below median now so maybe its cut and dry?

You were asked more about your household furnishings than I was. I think it depends on your states exemptions and the Chapter you are filing.

All my household goods are exempt, so the questions never came up. My attorney asked me to place a value on my stuff and when I did, he agreed to what I had stated but he said most people over estimate the value. That is because although what you have is very valuable to you, it is not much worth much on the open market. Meaning it's only worth garage sale price.

    Hope that helps.

hmm, Maybe its common. Ive heard so many having to list everything, and its value. Maybe since we look so pathetic on paper..
Oh well, I guess he know what he is doing.

Most attorneys have you list your own assets and put a garage sale value on them unless they are collectables.

Trustees are not interested in yard sale items, but they do have an interest in collectables. Collectables turn into CASH...... So do land, campers, expensive cars, top notch plazma tvs, jewelry, etc.

Hopefully your exemptions will cover what assets you do have and the trustee will not be interested in anything you own.

          Keep us posted.
