Glad to hear things are looking a little brighter after your visit with the bk lawyer, ROE! Once you start on the cash and carry lifestyle, you'll be amazed to discover how much money you used to spend on things that now just don't seem so important. Keep us posted on how your pre-filing is going, and remember we're here if you have questions or need a little reassurance.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

We took a hard look at our finances last night and this morning and woah, were we ever in over our heads. As it seems right now, with just two incomes instead of three, we're really going to have to economize in order to stay afloat. Things will get a little better in the fall once our youngest is out of full-day daycare and into Kindergarten, but it still won't be any picnic.

Looks like I may have to seriously consider a career change if we want to have money to put away for a rainy day, retirement, ect.

You will be fine with the creditors for at least 6 months. Just don't answer the phone! Don't let them intimidate you. Judgements take time and collecting on those judgements take even longer. Follow the advice of your attorney and don't get in too big of a rush!

Well, we started receiving phone calls last night. Citi called 4 times yesterday (only once when we were home), but the tough one was the local CU, they called me directly at work today. I asked the person if there was a way I could call her back and speak to her later. I'll take my lunch and call from my cell phone, but I'm nervous. My stomach is in knots again. Just have to keep telling myself this is for the best. We have no other alternative. I'm just really nervous that they're going to contest the BK because they are our biggest creditor and also local.
