Hello,
Before the month is over, I will be paying an attorney to handle my Chapter 7
bankruptcy case.
Here are my questions:
***On the average, about how long does it take for the "meeting of the creditors" to take place after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy?
***Is the date of the meeting etched in stone?
***Or can it be changed if it can be shown that I had prearranged plans on the day this meeting is scheduled?
This next question is going to sound really bad, but it's not what it sounds like at first:
***If I were to go on a week long trip to Las Vegas this summer, would the bankruptcy trustee be likely to frown on that?
Let me explain:
This is not a "luxury" trip. First of all, somebody else has offered to pay my way. Second, I am not going there to gamble. Instead, I am going there to play in a checker tournament. I would be staying at one of the casino hotels in downtown Las Vegas (The Plaza), where the checker players got a group rate of $29 a night with double occupancy. I don't plan on going to any shows. You can also eat dirt cheap if you know where to go, and that's exactly what I plan on doing. Once again, this is not a luxury trip.
Given all of the above, would the bankruptcy trustee still be likely to frown on this trip? After all, I have been invited, and somebody has offered to pay my way.
Those are my questions.
Any and all replies will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
