Hello to everyone!

Well my husband and i are filling ch 7. We found out a couple weeks ago that his ex wife will also get a notice in mail that we are filling. i coulnt believe that and i asked why! My attorney advised us that becuase he pays child support and she is the payee, by law she must recieve a letter, eventhough it has nothing to do with child support payments. i am a little upset but there is nothing we can do. It is none of her busniess since we are not listing her as a creditor,well, we list child support,and i guess that gives her the right to know our personal life.

Yeap, I guess divorce law is tough for alimony beaters. If he messes with her, she'll messes with him, and vice versa.

Anyone you owe money to is notified of the bankruptcy, its just the way the law works.

In the end, it is public record. ANYONE can sign up for pacer and review all of you documents with only your first and last name. I know its bothersome, but its life. Don't worry about what she thinks! If you know you are doing what you need to do then thats all that matters...

Yes, i have always known it is public knowledge..and for example i fuigured the child support agency would find out i just didnt think "SHE" would...

oh well, it makes me angry..but hey that is life..

Um, your filing for bankruptcy. It's considered public information. Anyone can access it if they want.

Hey Tradewiz50!

as i said i am completey aware that if someone wanted to go online they can find out if i filed or not. I know that part. what was bothering me was that voluntarly my husbands ex wife is being sent a letter from the courts saying we are filing by law she must be notified... that is what in a way suprised me, my lawyer agreed its a new law and it makes no sense but it is what it is i guess
