You didn't mention any spouse or other dependents, so,............ The Median Income level for a family of 1 in CT is $53,553/year.

At $10/hr, unless you work a ton of OT, you should be well below the Median. You could probably qualify for a Ch 7.
People do successfully file Pro Se. That's on their own without an attny. It's gonna take some research to be sure you complete the Forms correctly and get everything submitted that you need to.
On average, a No Asset Ch 7 attny's fee will run around $1K, give or take. Could range from $700, upwards to around $2500 depending on area of the country and the attny you hire.
Plus you'll have pre-BK Credit Counseling and post BK Debtor Education Certs to get. Average is $50 for each Cert. The Court filing fee for Ch 7 is $299.
Folks here are glad to help out when possible. Also, there's lots of Sticky Threads with lots of information and links to help out.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

1st welcome to the forum,i know people have been successful filing on their own. But,in my opinion,it doesn't hurt to have an attorney who knows the laws mostly now with new laws than we use to have, more paper work has to filed and if something like claims against your filing comes up.you'll have that legal adviser there to help you.any how no matter what you choose to do you'll have people here to help and support you as best we know how. take careCH. 7 Filed 4/4/07 done DISCHARGED AND CASE CLOSED 7/10/07 approved auto loan 3/082005 ford escape 14500
