Timeline from actual filing date to discharge date....

I've been looking thru post but can't find a specific timeline for this....

Does someone know of a previous thread that addresses this?

A friend at work who owns a home as offered for me to room because her fiance & her are splitting up & she wants to keep her home but money would be tight without someone to share expenses with. She said he'll be moving out in December. I'm really thinking about it (I'm so tired of being broke & having no one to share household responsibilities/expenses with - that was the only benifit I had when I was married) but I know that would really mess up the Bankruptcy & if I decided not to file I would still be in the same boat if I didn't get along with her & needed to move out.

So my question is: Given no gliches or whatever - still not totally sure what to expect after I file - what is the normal timeframe from the actual filing date to the discharge from anyone else's experience??? Is this something that really varies from person to person or is there somewhat of a norm timeline for this???

    Thanks for anyone's input.

Assuming you're talking about a Chapter 7 - no asset case, it should be about 90-120 days between filing date and discharge.

Barring no unforseen complications, of course.

Asset cases can take much longer and if the UST gets involved the time frame is anyone's guess!

Most no asset Chapter 7's go in 90 days.

Here's a link Anon posted a while back that's a nice graphic and explains everything that happens. If all goes "normally" that is.

      Wanted to add,...........

Approx 60 days from the 341, Ch 7 cases are Discharged. Closing can happen at the same time or be held for some reason. Like the Trustee wants to see the next year's income tax returns. Wait for property to be sold to dispurse proceeds to Creditors and such.
