When starting the inventory process of my worldly possessions....

...I found a box to a pistol that the ex wanted for me to have while we were married & he was deployed. Well, I did purchase it in my name & I think I have it stored away in a pistol case somewhere in a box with alot of other things I haven't seen in 4 + years - I'm pretty sure he doesn't have it. My questions are: 1) How can I legally sell this, I know there are a lot of laws out there & I want to sell it the correct & legal way?
    2) I know I don't have my original purchase paperwork (bought it about 10 years ago) but I know it's registered in the state so how can I obtain the documents showing legal ownership in order to sell?
    3) If I do sell it can I use the funds to pay the lawyer the rest of the bankruptcy cost??? I don't use the stupid thing anyway, and since I'm finally going thru stuff that I've had for years (with the ex) & just don't use (or want), I may as well sell it if it can be sold or throw it away. Would the trustee deem that as an asset even though I've sold it to help with the attorney fees???

*This is not an offer to sell, please do not email to ask. The only thing I'm asking for is answers on how to do this the right way.

you can sell it to anyone that is old enough and can legally own a gun. There is no paperwork involved in selling a used gun unless you go thru a firearms dealer.
