To know about drunken drive charges

I am working in Canada as an IT professional. Two days back police charged a complaint against me. The charges are drunken driving and reckless driving. I read some details regarding this from the website of [firm name removed by moderator] in Toronto. Will this affect my career or life in Canada? I have heard that some kind of criminal charges can lead to deportation. I am really afraid about this. Somebody, please help me to get a clear picture about this.
