Is foreclosure date the same as date of Sheriff sale? Or date you leave? (MN)

My house was sold at sheriff sale on Nov 4, 2010 but I didn't vacate until July 2011. Is the sheriff sale date what I would use as the foreclosure date?

Never mind - it's the sheriff's sale data and I already claimed it on last year's taxes.

Were you told to vacate or did you choose to? That was 8 months after the sale. Could you have stayed longer?

Yes I could have stayed longer - they gave me 3 months to leave after the redemption period with cash for keys option then they would have evicted. I left 2 months after the redemption period. I have not idea how long the actual eviction process would have taken but I didn't want that on my record since I had to rent and the bk was already enough of an issue, eviction would have made it impossible.
