Wisconsin - How can I find if a Foreclosure Lawsuit has been filed.

    Hi,
I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I received a letter from an attorney stating that "a foreclosure lawsuit was just filed against you!" I looked on the Wisconsin Court Access website and did not see a foreclosure lawsuit. Am I looking in the wrong place? Does anyone else know of a website where I could look this information up? I appreciate any help anyone has for me. My mortgage servicer is Bank of America.

Be not fooled and do not contact this person. If you are truly sued, you will get an official Court document usually given by a process server or bailiff. You are not sued. You received a threat only. Have you filed? If so they will attempt a "lift of [automatic] stay". Still do not dismay as you will still have plenty of time to act. Keep posting and letting us know your progress so far. You have been here awhile so you know they lie. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

It took about two weeks before those letters started arriving before the court papers came. I looked on my county courthouse website to verify that it had been filed. It had. We have had tons of BK attorneys, and even someone who wrote a freaking post card saying she saw we had a foreclosure filed on our house, could she buy it.

many times the foreclosures are handled by the sheriff departments and list them on the country site.

also, any suit has what is called a docket number.

That postcard thing is creepy. Not to mention so insensitive.

            Angelina-
I recieved an acceleration notice from BOA. Then I received a letter that my case was going "to a foreclosure committee". I have not been served. As soon as I got this letter I looked on my counties website and did not see a case. I just wondered if attorneys maybe have accesss to other resources and are a step ahead of me. I don't plan on filing bankruptcy. I'm not sure how I will reply to the foreclosure when it comes. Any tips to buy some time?

YOU ARE NOT SUED, until you get a subpena to a hearing. You MUST respond or a Judgment for the foreclosure is automatic. At this time, they can go through the process. I don't know your states process but Google it. The sheriff will not show up to put your stuff on the street without much warning. Perhaps you can work a deal with the bank to allow you to rent your own house until you get on your feet. It would be better for them not to have another empty house. Keep us informed. 'Hub

                Circuit court info.

I live in Wisconsin also and started getting those notices from attorneys. You can look up your case on the circuit court web site. I don't have enough posts on this forum to be allowed to post a link but if you google "Wisconsin circuit court search" and then select "simple case search" you'll be able to look up your case.
