House in foreclosure account # changed

Got a letter from my lender Chase that starting September 30th they are changing my account # to a totally new number, but it will not effect the fact that my home is in foreclosure. Any idea of what the purpose of changing the account number is for?

Nope. But really, your house is in foreclosure, you have bigger problems

Not really I am in middle of filing chapter 7 . I have no desire to stay in the home. I was just curious.

Some lenders move foreclosure accounts -- and sometimes bankruptcy accounts -- to a different servicer. This will usually cause the account number to change. Otherwise, the account number change means absolutely nothing in the grander scheme of things.
