How long does foreclosure process take in Ohio

Husband without job, my income can't sustain the house, but I have a daughter who is going to be a sr in high school and would like for her to finish high school here. Im just wondering how long to try and continue to make mortgage payments because we won't be staying here. no jobs.

is there any way you can rent another house that is cheaper, thereby staying in the same school district? If not, I understand your daughter wanting to finish her senior year out in the same school she's been in, but...... realistically you need to base your financial future on you & hubby and whats in your best interest. School getting out for the summer may be the best and ideal time to move since you have those months free before it starts again. Ask yourself this - is it worth struggling to pay the mortgage as you're able (only to put off the inevitable, thereby throwing that $ away), going without other necessary things just to keep your daughter in school, knowing that you may end up being mid-way thru her senior year and you have to move then? Or would it be better to move now and have her finish out school, having the $ to pay all bills and hubby having a job? Kids leave the nest... which leaves you and hubby for years and years. Dont let your children make your future financial decisions for you; while it may be hard to do and they may get upset, they're not the ones that have to pay the bills at the moment.

I know we hate to disappoint our kids, but sometimes we must put ourselves first to secure our future into our "golden years" - kids are resilient and will understand when they are faced with the same difficult decisions we are (God willing they wont be..)

    Hang in there..

citimortgage-13 months total for foreclosure...... If you are going to foreclose on the home, why are you still making the mortgage payment? SAVE your money now. Unemployment runs out, believe me. I've been there..

I'm thinking it depends on where you are, value of your house, how much you owe, etc. Our lender was pretty quick to start process with us-I think we missed 4 pays and they filed to start process-we bought some time with a pretty standard response saying we didn't know if they were legal holders of note, etc. That bought us a month or two, then we filed bk that bought us another 5 months or so. Trial currently scheduled for July so if you followed a similar path you could last out next year and live rent free. if you are not planning to file bk then I'm not sure. If I were you I'd consult a foreclosure attorney or two to see what your options are. Good luck.

Our BK discharged in March 2011. We are giving up our home, way underwater, needs major updates and repairs, we have been here now over 2 yr. since our last mortgage payment. Mortgage holder got judgement in January to lift stay, we want to be out of here before winter starts. DH is changing jobs the end of summer, he is going through studying to get licensed for new job, so we are staying until he gets his new position. No notice of any foreclosure sale yet.
            Filed BK Chapter 7 - 11/12/10 341 Meeting - 01/07/11
Notice of no distribution - 01/12/11
            DISCHARGED - 03/09/2011

Here is our situation if it helps. We live in Cuyahoga County. Discharged in late 2009. Stopped making payments in March of 2010. Bank of America filed suit in September and were all set to receive summary judgment in November but they abruptly dropped the suit and the case was dismissed in December. I suspect they could not produce the note which I believe is needed to receive summary judgment. The bank refiled late last month and apparently they found the note because it is attached as an exhibit to the new lawsuit. I anticipate another 4-6 months before we have to be out. So that will mean we would have been in the house about 18 months without a mortgage payment.

Unfortunately, my husband has not worked in all this time and I have drained my 401 borrowing money to keep us afloat. I do have a good job here but I'm done. Tired of the cold weather and grey skies. I am seeking employment out West where I have family and where they have generously offered me a place to stay until I can get on my feet. I would hate to leave my good paying job here for the unknown but I just need a fresh start and unfortunately it looks like it will be without my husband but that is a post for a different forum.
              Filed: 8-19-09
              341: 9-21-09
              Notice of Discharge: 11-28-09
