I have a neighbor who defaulted on her mortgage, bank filed for foreclosure, and she then filed Ch 7. She's staying until the sheriff puts her out. I could not figure out why she'd have her house on the market (now) months after her BK closed. Still can't figure it out. House isn't even listed at a short sale price (is at $50K more than comps in the neighborhood) and NOTHING around her has sold in over 12 months.

Maybe she spoke to the same realtor that I did .... the realtor told me that if I allowed the house to foreclose I would have a deficiency judgement even though my house was IIB, would not be able to buy a house again for 10 years & my credit would be much worse than with just the BK.
She made a short sale sound as good as paying my mortgage!! A great saleswoman......not quite honest, but that may be what they have to do to get houses listed these days!
