What should I expect as far as a timeline?

We just filed Chapter 7 today and are surrendering the house. We last made a payment in April. They immediately started calling, and we did send in an application for a modification. They requested verification that our HOA dues were paid up in roughly August. We've never responded because I knew the modification was hopeless, but we haven't heard a word since. Sooo, here we are in mid December with no contact at all from the bank since August. Our attorney said today that notification of the filing will probably speed them up a bit, but she said to stay put until we get a sale date on the house and be out a couple of days before then.

All my focus was on the filing today but now that it's behind me, I'm wondering about the timeline and what to expect. Anything we can do between now and then to lengthen the time we have left in the house? Honestly, at this point, just trying to save as much money as possible.
04/01/10 - Hit rock bottom and knew we were going to have to file for bankruptcy and surrender our home. 12/14/10 - Filed Chapter 7, 02/09/11 - 341 Hearing, 04/14/11 -

well, while I'm not in FL, I know its a judicial state so the timeline could be quite long...plus FL courts are the most backed up of almost any in the US.

...and since you haven't even gotten a summons & complaint for a FC, you certainly have a ways to go.
While the BK notice will probably speed the lender up, as your atty suggests, I'll bet you will still have many months (6 months+?) before SS.

Posters in FL may have a better feel for this. Good Luck!
