Anyone ever cancelled a mortgage payment?

I have done some searching and found nothing and I don't believe this is possible BUT...

Paid on 7/6 via online payment system with B of A.

Is there any way to cancel this payment?

Thanks for answering my stupid question.

You can file an unauthorized debit at your bank. There will be a $30 fee.

OK - expand on that thought with me please. I submitted the payment online. I have been paying for the last year. I "authorized" the payment.

Can I still do that? It has been posted since the 6th.

To clarify it was included in CH7 that was closed/discharged in 4/09. I made payments to maintain posession.

Yes you should be able to. Just tell your bank you just noticed the transaction and did not authorize it. Its not the honest thing to do....but the only way you will get your money back. Do you bank at BOA?

Ok thats a good thing. Just go to your CU, I have done this before on a car payment. It only took 48 hours to get the funds back

If you want to keep your house you should contact the Loss Mitigation department. They can lower your payment with a loan modification. Do you know who the investor on your loan is (ie Fannie, Freddie, FHA, VA...)

If you authorized the charge - and its been nearly 10 days ago, and already posted to your account with your mortg company and cleared your bank - you may not be able to reverse the charge now, 10 days later. The bank is going to ask you WHY the charge needs to be reversed and you have to have a VERY good reason to do so given the timeframe that has elapsed. If, by some odd chance, it has NOT posted to your mortg. company's account online and its still "pending" then you may have a chance (although again, slim). Usually any pending charges drop off after 48 hours from a bank account.

This isnt like you were overcharged or double charged for something - you authorized the charge 10 days ago. What reason would you give your bank to reverse the charge now? You cant say "Because I dont want to pay it" - its already been paid. Maybe if you reversed the charge like 24 hours after you did it it wouldnt come into question, but 10 days is going to be a very far stretch.

Let us know how it works out

I sent some stuff to B of A. I have nothing to lose, the money is gone. I would laugh all the way to the ATM if they give it back. If not? I'll just keep on rolling and be 30 days further out from the foreclosure process.

I wish my tenants would have given me the 30 day notice that my lease required of them. Then I wouldn't be in this situation or having to consider being so shady.

Bank of America wouldn't cancel the payment from their end.

Doing as the bank advised and disputing thru them now. I'll update when I have a definite no fly. Lol
