Not sure what to expect - any ideas?

We filed BK 7 12/3/09 with the intention at that time to try to keep the house. 341 on 12/31/2009. Just prior to filing, my husband was interviewing for a job that would require us to move from ID to VA. He was job offered and was offered a relocation package with the job offer. We decided to accept and try to start a new life. We moved to VA 1/6/2010 with him starting his new position 1/18/2010. We advised our attorney to surrender the house as we probably would not make anything off the sale of the house with the 1st and home equity loan that are currently against the home. If we did make anything the trustee would probably take it to pay off unsecured debts. Our attorney advised us to keep the heating source running to prevent any freeze issues which we did. We received "Notice of Motion for Relief From Stay" for the 1st here in Va. We are not going to object and we are wondering now how soon we can discontinue the heat and how soon they will be expecting the keys. We are hopeful to be getting the discharge soon. Anybody have any experiences in this? Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated.

It is very hard to answer that question. The foreclosure market is not operating normally. I've not paid much in over 8 months. I've had a chapter 7 BK discharged and have had no communication with lender. I'm just lucky enough to be living here rent free and keeping the place warm. I'm finding lenders are not in a great hurry to foreclose because of backlog and they get you to heat the place. The only thing you can really do is call them and find out their time line if they even know. Otherwise the best thing to do is keep the place warm and minimize the damage.

Or check into getting it winterized. I don't know how much it would cost but I can't believe more than $200 - $300.
