Sewer and Water bills

Our auction sale date is on Feb 3rd 2010. We will be getting the Sewer and Water bills covering from 1st Jan to 31st March. Hence the house is on sale on Feb, still we don't know when they tell us to leave from here.
Do you think we will have to pay those bills or just forget it. If we don't pay will they come after us.

They may contact you between now and the sale date because you are the owner of record. In most states, sewer and water are like property taxes; the water district typically has lien rights if it doesn't get paid; so the foreclosing lender must ultimately satisfy the water district when it inherits the property at foreclosure. Thus, you shouldn't need to pay it.
