timeline for deed in lieu from date of default

We are considering doing a dil but have read in a few places that we must file for a dil within 6 months of defaulting. So, if we last paid our mortgage in May of 2009, our 6 months would be up in November...is this right??? If so, we better act fast.

DIL is not a given at ALL.........the lender must agree to it and most likely will not.......dont get your hopes up..........most require to be listed on the mls with a realtor for 90 days first
