Do you just write and ask where to send the keys?

When we end up moving into the rental, and are no longer occupying our home - do you just write the lender and ask where to send the keys? We do not want it to go all the way to an eviction, so I don't think pushing a cash for keys will work....so when we move next month, do I just write and ask where they want the keys sent and tell them the date we are out?

Did any of you still pay HOA after you left?

I moved out of my pre-foreclosed house as soon as I was able to purchase a new house. I contacted my lender asking for deed-in-lieu but they wouldnt accept it. So now Im renting my pre-foreclosed house to someone else and no one is paying the HOA dues. I know the HOA could conceivably sue for the dues but so far they have not and the worst Im expecting to happen is a lien on the property.

Once you move and you call the servicer of your loan and tell them you have moved, they will send out someone from the property preservation department to change the locks on the house. They have to winterize the house and check the property too to make sure it is vacant. Don't worry about the keys. Just make sure you notify the servicer. You may want to notify them by phone and in writing CMRRR just to cover yourself.
