Does NOD have to be mailed certified?

I got what says it is an NOD and intent to accelerate on my house. Thats fine, we are moving in a month and have a great rental ready - but I am wondering if that was the REAL NOD. I cannot seem to locate the online database for my county that I can look information up in (if that even exists) and I have read that the true NOD will be sent certified (seems like it would have to be or I could deny I knew).

In my BK proceeding they cannot sell before 12/28 - but I am thinking that if that was not the real NOD they cannot sell before then anyways with the time frames imposed, correct?

I don't know if it's supposed to be mailed certified, but mine sure wasn't. On day 31 it got turned over for good and I ended up having to pay twice the amount at once, plus an extra $500 each month on my mortgage.
