Bought the place to try to work things out with the ex wife and it didn't work, now with support and pending bills i don't know if i can swing it? Is it too early? will they cart me off to jail?

Lie about what? no, not anything i can think of. I bought the place trying to work things out with my ex and thinking even if it didn't work out my kids could stay with me, but they are busy with there new life and i am stuck now with support and a big payment.

Then it shouldn't be a problem at all. If the information you submitted supported the underwriter's criteria and all of it is factual then you have nothing to be worried about. Life changes. There is no certain amount of time that must pass before things change.
