Would it make any different if we mail the Keys & Deed back to the bank on the way out of town? I hear you shall do that one night on a TV report but didn't catch the reasoning, would it help our case?

You really don't need to do anything like that. Just call the lender on your way out of town and inform them you've vacated the home and the keys on the counter. You can't really mail the deed back, since you don't technically have the deed.Bankruptcy History:
Chapter 7 filed - 10/12/2005 - Asset
Discharged - 02/16/2006
Case Closed - 11/08/2007

I am in the same boat
We are in the same situation. We will be leaving the house in the morning and do not know what our next step is. We are moving about 700 miles away. We have not been late yet, this will be our first month. My husband job was being done away with and he found another job out of state, but he took a pay cut. We are upside down on our house bad and can not afford rent and the house payment.
I would like to know if anyone else has been in the situation and what worked for them.

Either by mail or phone, let the mortgage company know that you have abandoned the home and that they can secure it. Make sure you disconnect the utilities.
