Jealous & feeling like a jerk: Best friend found a buyer ASAP & I'm still waiting

I have had my house on the market for months with no offers. Meanwhile I'm sliding deeper and deeper into foreclosure and getting more and more depressed over my situation.

Now this evening I talked with one of my best friends who also wants to sell her house, and after just two months on the market, she has an offer on the table.

I should be happy for my friend and instead I just feel miserable and jealous. She is not even in pre-foreclosure like me. This is just a spur of the moment decision for her, that she wants to sell her house.

I'm going to settle down, have a glass of wine, and try to get my head on straight. I can't blame my negative feelings on my foreclosure situation -- I know this is a reflection of my character and that I should be ashamed of myself for not being HAPPY for my friend's good fortune.

But I was wondering if anyone here had been through a similar situation and if so, if you had any advice. Thanks.

Cityish: Nothing has changed. Luck of the draw. Lower your price, put bigger signs and ***** at your real-estate person. It is human to feel a bit ‘bent’ in this situation. But here you are, among friends with bigger or smaller problems, but remember, to each person, their problem is the most important. Your idea of relax, pull up a cold one, and don’t worry. There are two types of worries. One you can do something about: So HANDLE IT. The second is one you can do nothing about: So why worry? Time and God will take it. All things will cure in time. Just wait, do what you are able to do, then don’t amplify your troubles by mental anguish. ‘Hub

Thank you Angelina. I love your advice and it helps.

This friend, who truthfully is almost like a sister to me, recently gave me a copy of "The Secret" to help me think more positive.

Maybe I will pull that book out and give it a try. Again thank you for your words about the two kinds of problems, it really did help for me to look at it that way. I appreciate it.

I'm a real estate agent. If your house is in foreclosure, you are better off to sell it at a loss than to lose it outright.
Have you talked to your mortgage company about a short sale?
        Filed Chapter 7, 8/16/05, 341 10/12/05
        Discharged 2/16/06, Case Closed 3/8/06
FICA Score (Equifax) as of 10/13/06 - 645
        (It was 506 on 10/12/05)

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a primary with Chase and a HELOC with Countrywide. So a short sale will be difficult if not impossible to pull off. My total loans are just low enough that I might be able to pull this off without taking a loss -- I hope.
