Does anyone know if the adoption credit on form 8839 of the federal Income tax is exempted when filing bankruptcy or can they take it?

Has nothing to do with the credit, it is all about the benjamins. Trustee doesn't care how you got your refund just the fact that you have one.

Actually, I think it is protected. But the exact way it is protected escapes me.

That would be awesome to learn something new, but in 16 years of BK, I haven't come across an exemption for it. So ask your Atty and let us know.
