Hi guys I have a question. I left a msg for my attorney but he hasnt gotten back to me yet, and im impatient. So I figured I ask here.
My wife and I just filed ch7 on the 24th. Our attorney said we should use the federal exemptions instead of Michigan. Anyways, we were under the impression that we could double the amount of the homestead exemption but he said no because the title to our house is only in my name. We got the house appriased and it turned out to be no big deal. But now Im wondering if we each have a homestead exemption.
ie. Can she use her "portion" as a wildcard since i used mine on the house?
