As I have posted, I saw our attorney for the pre-bankruptcy questions meeting last month. We are barely under the mean for a Chapter 7 but owned two vehicles outright. The attorney said we could sell the pickup and we did, yesterday. The money will go for his fees, a mortgage payment, etc.
The blue book values on the truck went from 7k up through 10k but our truck had some body damage, a door that sticks from being slammed too hard, it needed some front end work (est by dealer $1200), and it needed brakes. After advertising for only ten days, we got $6600. We turned down an offer at $6200 and had two people look at it without making an offer at all.
So I'm up all night thinking the trustee will say I did not sell for fair market value. I think I did but when I see similar trucks advertised at dealerships the prices are way up to $12k or even $15k - the truck is a 2004 Dakota Quad.
Thanks for your opinions. I guess it is too late now, no matter what, and I'll just have to deal with it.
By the way, the attorney thought selling was a good idea.
