I have a few, hopefully simple, questions about exemptions in Alabama. I am really cofused..... Are we, the debtor, supposed to claim things like household goods, cooking necessities, furniture, television, dvd player, computer (I'm on it now), clothing. Or do they mean hard assets? Car, house, expensive jewelry, etc.??????????????

One would typically claim even those smaller things if one wanted to keep them. They don't need every toaster and sock listed separately, people normally aggregate them together into broader categories (rings, watches, desks, beds, books, clothing, etc.), and only itemize out the more expensive goods. The example in the Nolo book doesn't really have much detail at all.
