    Unsure of Residency

First off, I realize the best option is to ask an attorney about this. But I'm having trouble finding one that'll do pro bono or reduced, and in the meantime, I'm just hoping someone has a quick answer so I can stop stressing.

I lived in Maine for five years and just recently came to Georgia because there aren't any jobs in Maine even in good times. I'm living with my father until I can finish college/find a job.

I got a GA license ten days ago, so I guess that's the start of my residency. I have to wait until 91 days have elapsed to file here, BUT I won't be able to use GA exemptions since I haven't been here 2 years. But according to the law here, if you're filing in GA you have to use GA exemptions. Am I in some hole that I can't get out of other than waiting two years to file (which would not fly, as my situation is desperate).

Keep in mind I don't care WHOSE exemptions I use, GA, ME, federal, or Timbuktu's. I have nothing. But I'm just afraid that I'll get told I can't file anywhere unless I wait 2 years and file here.

It seems obvious that I'd file here and use ME exemptions, but what if you need to actually be living in ME to use theirs? Neither GA nor ME allow you to use federal. Since there are only a handful of states that do allow federal exemptions, maybe someone is familiar with what is done in this situation. Any reassurance that I'm not in some legal black hole would be appreciated.

If you can wait the 90 days, file in GA. If ME has a law saying that you must be a resident to use their exemptions, then you are allowed to use the Federal exemptions. If they don't have such a law, then you use ME exemptions.
