Background:
Will be filing CH13 someday will hold on to home (underwater) , 2 financed vehicles (underwater), 1 vehicle no payments valued at $12,000 and two jet skis valued at $8000.
I am not sure on how the whole exemption thing works in CA. According to below will I be allowed 20725 +
703.140(b)(1) Real or personal property, including co-op, used as a residence up to $20,725.
Since I am underwater on home can I use this towards the vehicle and jet skis?
Personal Property
703.140(b)(2) - Motor vehicle up to $3,300.
Can I use this for the car that I own along with 12000 - 3300 = 8700from above?
703.140(b)(3) - Clothing, household goods, appliances, furnishings, animals, books, musical instruments and crops up to $525 per item.
Is there a limit on this? Say you have a bunch of stuff that totals over $30K yet each item is less than $525.
703.140(b)(4) - Jewelry up to $1,350.
Can I use some of the personal property to augment this allowance?
703.140(b)(5) - $15,000 of any property, less any claim for homestead or burial plot.
Huh?
