I waited too long and was sued by a local credit union, they seem to be pretty aggressive. I had to wait for a loan modification to be completed before I filed. I filed an answer and it bought me two months but that was not enough time... they were successful in placing a lien on my house. I know it doesn't sound good but in reality it will cost me $400 to strip the lien during the bankruptcy. The state I live in allows wage garnishment but it is a one time hit, they would have to take me back to court every week to keep it going. I filed today, limbo sucks but I am confident everything will work out in the long run.

Confused about Texas Exemptions

Yup, the trend I've noticed is that local creditors are the worst about pursuing. The smaller the are, the easier they can keep up with and demand their money. Credit unions in particular have a reputation for this.
Texas doesn't allow wage garnishment. Liens are generally limited to secured creditors here (though some other creditors might try to slap one on, it can be removed at the request of the homeowner). We're not judgment proof here, but the next best thing.Filed Joint, No Asset, > $100,000 Unsecured Ch.7 6/7/13 ~~ 341 Meeting 7/15/13 ~~ Discharged 9/16/13 !!
