If a husband and wife file ch 13 joint, would you be able to double the exemption values?? Specifically, I am curious if we could both have a vehicle...nothing fancy....maybe a $1200 car?? Thanks in advance. sara

Depends on the State and the wording of the Statute. Some States allow for doubling. Some States specifically note certain Exemptions cannot be doubled.
Texas, for example, has a flat $$$ amount Personal Property Exemption. Debtor/Filers are allowed 1 vehicle/licensed driver in the family. So if you have 3 vehicles and only 1 licensed driver in the family, only 1 vehicle will be Exempt.
Really depends on your State and the wording of the Statute.Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
