I lost my home, a condo, a while ago, but I still live in it and rent it from the new owner. At the time I lost it, the new owner paid the back dues and I am paying him back. Now, the condo assoc is suing me for back dues. I don't know how this can be but, either way, I need an attorney. I thought I had one lined up and paid a small deposit with an agreement to make payments. Now they have gone back on their word after looking into the case because they said there is a chance it might require a lot of work (key word "might"). I just found this attorney, too, after firing another one. The previous attorney gets dropped from the case today and the one I thought I had now will not take it over (file an appearance) for a court case unless I give them another $1200 up front which I don't have at the moment. However, they are willing to try to negotiate with the association on my behalf.
I am really worried about being unrepresented in a court case, especially since I still live in there.
Any ideas or suggestions?
