Oregon Legal Firm Gets Taken Down

The follwoing link is to the Oregon Department of Justice website. The law firm is the firm that sued me over a Capt1 account. I let it go to default judgment and the judgment was satisfied via wage garnishment. At one point, these folks held additional Capt1 accounts of mine. I guess these accounts have now been assigned to limbo-land. Since I am within months of SOL, I think the remaining Capt1 accounts are dead.

The action against this firm was taken last spring. I just heard about it today after another law firm contacted me with regards to a review of the original suit against me. I think this has something to do with how the firm was reporting their legal costs for reimbursement post-judgment. I really am not interested in getting a few dollars returned. I'm more satisfied that the primary attorney (McGavic) can no longer practice law in the state.

If you scroll to the end of the press release, you can click on the link that takes you to the AVC (Assurance of Voluntary Compliance) decision. It is a short read, but interesting.

This is good news. According to the article, they blatantly ignored the FDCPA. I wish more of the debt collector law firms like this would get shut down.

I looked them up on a map... geez... they were in Eugene. I grew up just a little bit north of there, around River Road and Horn. Right by a Taco Time restaurant. I still like them better than Taco Bell.
      The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.
