Total: 1440 calls from creditors in 6 months

The calls have finally stopped. I filed last week, and my atty sent out letters to all my creditors.

I was never bothered by creditors because they have nothing but my google voice#. They don't have my employer info and no valid home number. I usually don't check the voice mails I receive over the weekend, so I was expecting to delete +30 voicemails. There was none. Feels good.

If everything goes as planned, 3 more months and I should be free!!!

Unibrow: Good for you. I am only 30 days behind in my payments and get 30 plus calls each day.

Wow, that's a lot of calls. I stopped paying 8/10 on 4 cards.........all but one are charged off, 2 with debt collectors and I only get about 3 calls a day. I have answered one is all this time and they wanted me to sell my couch.....LOL.

After 18 months in default, (no BK) I get one to two calls a week, max.

They call in full force the first couple of months, then they make fewer calls. I didn't realized how many total until I looked at all the missed calls I get from them. And this doesn't include the calls to prior work numbers and other numbers they have.

I feel a lot more in control now. I know what's going to happen as the bk progress for the next 90-100 days. Prior to pre-planning, the mental stress was just unbearable. The weight on my shoulder lifted as I became more informed about the bk process thanks to this forum.

I couldn't agree more - this forum, honestly, is keeping what's left of my sanity.

I get around 30-50 calls per day.

Question (I think I may have asked this before...) - our atty says to tell creditors to call them - BUT since we don't exactly know yet when we're filing - in a month? It could be July...does it make sense to give creditors the "heads up???" OR - OR - would it rather have them start trying to offer a way out?

Another wrinkle in this...one creditor is a local financial institution with whom, until now, I've never been late - if I tell them to please call atty so and so, they WILL know what I'm planning - if I were them, why wouldn't I just sue right away??? What does everyone think???

Biggest problem is lawsuit for which first hearing is in about 1.5 months...

Its up to you.
Any creditor isn't going to be able to get a judgment and try to collect on it in a month and a half from now.
If the calls are driving you crazy, then you could send them to lawyers office, everyone EXCEPT the local creditor calls.
...and continue to take or ignore only those.

You have many choices.

Before I started to fail behind on my cc payments, I changed my contact info to a voice mail number. The cc companies and collectors did try to contact me on my home phone, because I did have it once listed with them, but I just told them that the person they were trying to contact didn't reside at this number and that they were harassing a third party not related to their business. They bought it lol
