OK, I knew this would eventually happen and have been preparing for it. My question is this; is this just a tactic the credit card companies use? Do I still have some time before they actually file a judgement against me? Should I go ahead and file? I was hoping I had longer than 6 months. Thanks to those that take the time to read this and to answer.
I had the same letter from Discover, only my time was "up" in I think September. I was served today; the date the suit was filed was November 18. So they actually did not waste much time once the date on the letter had passed. I've got posts here about that; I'll look to see exactly when the dates were.

Well after reading about other peoples experiences with discover on some of the dedicated "debtor boards", I will change my statement...it does appear Discover operates A LOT different than most...they will almost certainly sue..... Thier letter is still somewhat misleading to the "unsophisticated" consumer in that it states they WILL obtain a judgement against you...they still have to win....but unfortunately they are the OC and not subject to FDCPA...possibly still subject to state law violations though if you want to press and depending on where you live....

Do not keep any money in your account. They can get a judgment and take every single red penny. I kept nothing in my checking account and I closed my savings. I bought money orders from walmart and paid my bills that way. Good Luck
